You spent a night in the hospital this week. It was your
first and I hope it is the last. After a couple of bruises weren’t
healing, we took you to get checked out. Turns out you have a
condition called ITP. That basically means that your blood isn’t
clotting properly because you don’t have enough platelets. Older
kids don’t have to stay in the hospital because they can just take
it easy. You don’t really understand “take it easy” just yet.
We’ll be getting lots of blood tests done over the next few weeks to see
if your platelet levels go up as expected. It is going to be rough,
but your dad and I will be beside you every step of the way with
big hugs to help soothe the hurts.
